Quality and Environmental Management
It is not just our work that is marked by special quality, but our selection of raw materials as well. Borkener Kistenfabrik works mainly with certified wood suppliers. Quality assurance is conducted according to the DIN ISO 9002:1994 manual.
We work especially with suppliers that have agreed to process only wood from sustainable forest management. We have reduced our wood waste to a minimum by using as much as possible in our own production. When we invest in production facilities, the environmental aspects are just as important for us as technical criteria. Wood as a renewable resource Wood is a renewable resource. In Germany, sustainable forest management is practiced, i.e. less wood is harvested than new growth. The annual increase in wood in Germany is thus 57 million m3. Only 40 million m3 are exploited. Wood supplies will increase markedly in the coming years. There is thus considerable unused potential. The most important supplier for packaging wood is the domestic market. Petroleum as the source for plastics will be depleted at some point. But harvested wood makes room for new growth. The rejuvenation of the forests leads to improved CO2 storage capacity.
